Alumni Giving

Successful graduates of UIndy, the Duffys continue their involvement with the University as members of the University Board of Advocates. John graduated in 1991 with an undergraduate degree in business and communications and is senior vice president at UBS Financial Services. Melissa earned her master's in nursing in 2000 and is a nurse practioner in McCordsville, Indiana. The Duffys, proud parents of triplets, are busy raising their three children and are members Old Oakland Golf Club and are active on a number of Catholic boards and at St. Simon Church. They recently committed to a multi-year pledge and doubled their first-year gift to take full advantage of the Lilly Endowment challenge. They are excited about changes in facilities and staffing and how the University has evolved.

Alumni Make the Difference

Q. Why should I give back to the University of Indianapolis?
A. Giving demonstrates your pride in the quality education you received. Your generosity will also continue the tradition of giving that made your education more affordable. Did you know that tuition only covers about 75% of the cost to run the University? The rest is made up by generous donors who believe in you and the University.

Q. I am still paying off my college loans. How can my small gift make a difference?
A. No matter the size, your gift will help increase the University's alumni participation rate, which leads to increased rankings in national surveys, such as the U.S. News and World Report. Your gifts can, therefore, increase the value of a University of Indianapolis degree for yourself and current students.

Q. What percent of alumni give to the University?
A. In fiscal year 2004-2005, 16 percent of our bachelor degree alumni gave financial support to the University. We believe our alumni are up for the challenge to increase the percentage to over 20 percent annually. Remember, it starts with you!
